RIP RILEY

1. Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed for Taking Back The Underground Magazine. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us your name?!

Hello my name is RIP R!LEY. I am an upcoming singer/screamo rapper/producer based out of Phoenix AZ known for my diversity in many genres mostly having a new outlook on the screamo rap genre by mixing my singing/screamo rap on one track letting out sadness/anger giving a new age midwest emo type vibe etc.

2. How long have you been working/making music under this project title?

I’ve been making music since early 2018 just with my guitar singing more in the indie genre but really started taking it more seriously & expanding finally finding my sound towards the end of 2020 which is id say new age midwest emo/screamo rap just a mix of singing/screamo rap on alt rock beats also making no melody hard 808 type beats making sure to show nothing but raw emotion in each track so about I’d say 4 going on 5 years I am about to be 22 years old in a couple days I was born on is July 13th 2002.

3. Who gets bragging rights for helping you get to where you are now? Who are your day ones?

I’d say my mother of course not only because she’s my mom but she’s always support me since the very beginning when I was I was an amateur boxer & wanting to start making music instead. My brother(loverboy) same reason,Blooodyplauge some of you make know him as the lead singer of the local band “Seahorsechoke” he’s who really taught me the ropes with mixing & just believing in me. Also just to add a few more ogs that I started making beats with in highschool they know who they are DRAE,KVNVOID,J-RECKLESS, & DJ CRISSØ.

4. What were you doing before all this started? Did you have other notable projects before this one?

Before making music I was an amateur boxer from 9 up to the age of 17 traveling across the country was rank #1 in the United States & Mexico with over 100 fights when I quit. Sounds like I fucked up which when it came to the money I’d probably be making right now I guess you can say I did but i don’t care about that. I was young & felt I wasn’t really doing it to make myself happy but others I made a commit that’d I’d put my all into music something I actually love doing instead of boxing I haven’t turned back since…

5. What can we expect from you in 2024? New music, visuals or tours?

2024 you can expect way more music dropped on a consistent basis & start to see more of me in music video,shows etc. I have a new ep dropping in a couple weeks(follow my insta rip_riley13 for details) with some different sounds but still got some screamo rap in there I like to mix my singing with screamo rap I feel like that’s what sets me apart from all these other artist. This ep will make u cry n be greatful for life at the same time that’s all ima say.

6. What are your long-term goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years. What about your end game?

I hope to make music my career just be able to pay my bills by doing what I love to do & helping other with my music that’s all. Really would love to keep working with other artist meeting new people & hopefully work with some of my favorite artist that’d be a dream come true. No matter how far I get I’ll always make sure to have nothing but amazing music it’s what shows me where I am at in life it’s my therapy it’s my whole emotions dated on each track.

7. With an interest in who your influences are, if you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would be on the bill with you?

I’d love to go on tour with all my brothers in the music scene right now they know who they are(Knottz,brat,Blane,tønejustdied,shortcak3,etc.) that would be speaking for all of us i believe because I truly see nothing but greatness in everyone in the “music scene” that i can call a friend. I’d of course also love to be on a bill with some of my fav artists like the neighbourhood(my og inspiration), Title fight, Pierce the Veil, CORBIN, DANGER INC., BONES, DRiPPINSOPRETTY,& NASCAR ALOE. Just to name a few…

8. What is your local music scene like? What are the pros and cons? And where do you see room for improvement?

I feel like the AZ MUSIC SCENE has a lot of potential but just recently getting noticed more i only say that because of just rotten noodles(bad ppl) & lack of morals that come with it. I have seen a lot of people switch up or just disappear throughout the years but it’s the ones that stick to it & have good intentions that stay. Sad to say it took this long but I think we’re almost there & can put AZ on the map especially because me personally don’t rock with anyone who does something lame or is just a shitty person it doesn’t matter how good your music is. I can say with confidence there are so many more talented people like that right now and are genuinely real people & passionate about not only there music but supporting others as well. I say within the next couple years we’re gonna have a ton house hold names coming from AZ & I am beyond grateful/excited to be apart of it.

9. Here at TBTU we’re constantly looking for fresh talent and prospective features. If you had to choose 5 artists from your circle to put us on too, who would you choose and why?

You guys already know my circle for the most part but I’d say shortcak3,Audi junko,soulcast,Tyykage,Grimm$HG. All very humble young men, I seen nothing but talent & consistency from those folks since they have started definitely advise you to be on the lookout for them!

10. As we wrap this up, is there anything else you want to add? And thank you for your time!
